Enhanced second-order sideband via surface plasmon polaritons in a low-Q microcavity

چکیده

We investigate the creation of optical second-order sideband (OSS) from a hybrid system consisting single quantum dot (QD), spherical metallic nanoparticle, and low-Q microcavity driven with weak probe strong control field. Beyond conventional linearized description, we solve nonlinear Heisenberg–Langevin equations for achieving coefficient OSS by employing perturbation technique. It is shown that plasmon cavity modes induces formation surface polaritons, resulting in controllable interaction can be enhanced into coupling regime even if cavity–QD initially weak-coupling regime. As result, generation splitting transmission spectra observed. In addition, it also size metal nanoparticle (MNP) has profound effect on output spectrum, which might form precision self-referenced detection scheme extracting information MNP.

Bragg diffraction of microcavity polaritons by a surface acoustic wave.

Bragg scattering of polaritons by a coherent acoustic wave is mediated and strongly enhanced by the exciton states resonant with the acoustic and optic fields in the intraband and interband transitions, respectively. In this case, in contrast with conventional acousto-optics, the resonantly enhanced Bragg spectra reveal the multiple orders of diffracted light. For polaritons in GaAs microcaviti...

Resonant tunneling of surface plasmon-polaritons.

The tunneling of surface plasmon-polaritons (SPPs) across an interruption in the metallic film supporting them is numerically investigated in details. Both non-symmetrical and symmetrical geometries are considered. A very high tunneling efficiency is calculated for the long-range surface plasmon in the symmetrical geometry, with an amplitude transmission as high as 80% over a 5 microm gap for a...

Chiral surface plasmon polaritons on metallic nanowires.

Chiral surface plasmon polaritons (SPPs) can be generated by linearly polarized light incident at the end of a nanowire, exciting a coherent superposition of three specific nanowire waveguide modes. Images of chiral SPPs on individual nanowires obtained from quantum dot fluorescence excited by the SPP evanescent field reveal the chirality predicted in our theoretical model. The handedness and s...

Radiation guiding with surface plasmon polaritons.

Surface plasmon polaritons (SPPs) are electromagnetic (EM) modes propagating along metal-dielectric interfaces, in which surface collective excitations of free electrons in the metal are coupled to evanescent EM fields in the dielectric. Various SPP modes can be supported by flat and curved, single and multiple surfaces, exhibiting remarkable properties, including the possibility of concentrati...

Direct imaging of localized surface plasmon polaritons.

In this Letter, we report on dark field imaging of localized surface plasmon polaritons (SPPs) in plasmonic waveguiding bands formed by plasmonic coupled cavities. We image the light scattered from SPPs in the plasmonic cavities excited by a tunable light source. Tuning the excitation wavelength, we measure the localization and dispersion of the plasmonic cavity mode. Dark field imaging has bee...
